POST 3- IN CONTINUATION WITH THE 1040 NR

Hello dear readers, I usually rely on my memory of what we work on as a firm and specifically cover those hoping it would help those of you following me on Linked In. Over the last several weeks I have been dealing with several queries relating to when one should file 1040NR – non-resident US returns. I thought I would make the next series related to this specific filing. So we will cover a few of these scenarios and see how tax filing obligations vary depending on facts & circumstances specific to each case. Does the 1040NR require FATCA filings? One of the big issues that drives compliance and taxpayers to seek professional assistance in the US to file returns is FATCA and the penalties associated with not filing them. If one is eligible to file a 1040NR then usual forms under FATCA normally filed with a 1040 resident return are not required with a 1040NR. Filing them is not wrong but is not required.
