Being an entrepreneur means being a mentor too! Mentoring, not monitoring, is the key to building a great organisation. We are a firm that has offices in Los Angeles, Bangalore, Chennai, Trichy with our biggest team presence in Trichy and Chennai. While most of our client interactions happen online via Zoom or teams, we make it a point to make time for face-to-face meetings with our clients. We do this in New York, Los Angeles, Bay Area and while in India – in Bengaluru.
Our team in Trichy handles a large part of our production and online-onboarding of clients. Where they miss out is in being able to be physically present at meetings with clients. This gap is what I endeavoured to fill by asking two dazzling minds from our Trichy office to join me on a recent trip to Bengaluru. It was a first on many fronts for them. This was their first business trip, the first time they were travelling alone without family and the first time they experienced what it was like to attend 12 meetings with clients across two days. I could see the two young ladies embrace the opportunity with open arms and mind. They quickly shed their reserve, held their own, took meeting notes, followed up with clients right after the meeting on all action items. In a nutshell, it must have felt like bootcamp to them but they did it with confidence, commitment and enthusiasm.
I look forward to extending this opportunity to others as well, to give them the chance to understand what it is like to invest in some good PR, teaching them how to think on their feet and troubleshoot while giving clients the good old feeling of meeting their tax advisor in person!
